Catching Up...

Okay, so it has been a while. I have been dealing with alot of illness in the family, so I have not had a chance to be on hear as much as I would have liked, but, hopefully things are slowing down a bit. I am getting in the holiday spirit. I am going to start working on a Holiday Planner which is my next big project, after Halloween anyhow. I'm getting excited for Christmas this year (really I am every year) because I'm hoping this is a more organized and therefore, meaningful holiday. Also, the boys being another year older makes if that much more fun. Well, hopefully I'll be updated soon about my Holiday Planner & we'll see how it goes.

{Preparing for a 1st Birthday}

I am preparing for my second son's first birthday. I love planning my boy's parties. For his first, I decided to go with a bug theme and I made the invitations. I feel that starting the party off right, with the invitations, get my whole theme going. I feel this makes it eaiser when planning the rest.

I try to work with the colors in the invitation for the decorations and cake colors. This can at times make it more difficult. I had a hard time finding the right shade of green for the table cloth, so I just try to be creative. I found green tule, which will work well. Once I have a theme in mind it is fun trying to see what I can create. I was going to put astroturf door mats down for the table runner, but was to afraide to head to the stores, that would carry the...college move in weekend, that's crazy in our town. Anyhow, I will get more pictures posted and more ideas posted when the party is over...

{The Kitchen Is Done}

I have throughly cleaned and organized my kitchen. It is such a good feeling to be done with that project. Now I just need to keep it that way. How did I do it...
I find that taking a section of a room at a time keeps me the most on task. I start at one corner and work on the area from top to bottom. I pay special attention to the areas tha tI wouldn't otherwise clean in normal, everyday cleaning. The celing light, walls, top of the cupboards, etc...It was a rewarding experience. I have learned that I must be a bit OCD when it comes to cleaning. It took me about 7 hours to complete the task (I have a very, very, very small gally kitchen). Oh, well, it looks good!!!

On to the next task...the bathroom!!!

{Gaining the Correct Prospective}

One of my biggest Goals over the last many years of my life has been to grow in my wisdom and time spent with my God and Savior. My quite times and devotions were few and far between. As much as I love the Lord, my discipline was lacking, to say the least. When I would pray, I would often ask the Lord for better discipline to spend time in the word and with Him in prayer. Over the past month or so, he has been answering my prayers. He has given me the stamina to get up early in the morning and spend time with him, before the little ones (and big one) gets up. He has also provided me with some good listening material that I have been soaking in on my drive to work. He has been pushing me to spend time with Him and what a difference it has made (although, I still have a long way to go). He has given me more peace with different situations in my life and better abilities to handle things; however, I do need to pray more for patients with my 3-year old. God is Good and if we give up our lives to live for Him it is exciting to see what He will do. From Big to Small things, He is forever showing us His power, love, understanding etc...if we take the time to look for it. For me...living a simplified life begins with giving my life to Christ!!!

{The Goal has been set...Now onto the Task}

I am going to start in the kitchen today. I have been trying to decide where to begin? I think I will start at the top and work down. Lights & Tops of Cupboards. From there I will start cleaning out Cupboards. One step at a time.

The thought of getting started on a goal is always more exciting than doing it, but the best part is when it is done and you can see the finished results.

{Goals...Let's Start at the Very Begining}

I am an organized person, but at times I have to set goals in writing...I find that helps me complete them. I told myself that this summer I wasn't going to obsess with cleaning the house, and I have not; however, I'm starting to think about fall cleaning & I'm getting excited (I love to clean). I have alot of pending projects and at times, I don't know where to begin. I thought...why not post goals...so this will be a post in progress:

I need to take it one room at a time...Starting with the Kitchen:

Clean out & Wipe Down Cupboards
Wipe Down Walls
Clean Refrigerator
Clean Tops of all Cupboards
Clean Floors
Wash Windows
Clean Light

Projects:
New Lighting
New Flooring
Put Baseboards Up
New Rugs
Make Untinsel Holder
Paint Sink Shelf
Make new Curtins
Touch Up Kitchen
Put Up a Backsplash

I'll keep you updated!!!

{Making the Most of the Season}

You hear it ever summer..."I can't believe it is already August". Summer always seems to fly by. As you try to capture each moment, every warm summer day and breezy summer evening. The tastes, smells and sights. Having children I know this feeling even more. In the summer I am learning to transfer my priorities from Cleaning to Playing Outside. Cleaning up sticky fingers from Popsicles and Ice Cream Cones in the back of my mind knowing this summer will end and it will be the only summer I will have that my children will be this age. So I try to take time to think...what is the best way to spend my time. What will the kids enjoy this most? What will provide that true "Summer" feeling? I have learned it's the simple things...

Bubbles...Bike Rides...Swinging...Walks...Heading to the Pool...Sprinklers in the Back Yard...Ice Cream Cones...Fireworks on the 4th of July...Family Vacation

Take time to enjoy simple things. There will always be time to clean, cook, organize, etc...

Is it really almost August???

{New}

I have come to enjoy blogging. I blog about my kids and day to day life often but have always wanted an outlet to write about Organizing, Cleaning, Cooking, Decorating, Shopping, etc...So I decided to start a blog, even if I am the only one to read it. It gives me an outlet to be creative which in my job I am not able to do often. We will see where this journey leads. If it is any good maybe I'll send it onto my friends and family
